I have specific training in working with adult populations including solution focused training, acceptance and commitment therapy, CBT for trauma, solution focused counseling, DBT, and mindfulness based counseling. I am also in the process of becoming EMDR trained as well and will be fully trained by Spring 2023.
We work together as a team to decide on what is the best approach or approaches to utilize in counseling. I encourage you to work on what is discussed in session on your own time until we next meet with readings and homework. I will work with you to develop a clear goal and end point of therapy so we have a clear path and direction. Too many times people feel “stuck in therapy” I want to make sure that we are always working towards a goal and helping you to accomplish what you came to therapy for in the first place.
Some of the complaints that adults come to therapy for help with are as follows, but not limited to:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Impulsivity/emotional regulation
- Relationship and marital struggles
- Boundary setting
- Traumatic events (car accident, domestic violence, abuse, etc)
- Family conflict
- Substance use or abuse
- Adjustment or changes in daily living events or activities
- Grief and/or loss of any kind
